19th Century Mahogany Grandmother Clock

A rare, small, 19th century miniature longcase clock or Grandmother clock. It has a mahogany case with exceptional figured mahogany veneers. The flat top has turned side pillars, a long door and out swept bracket feet. It has an 8 inch dial and a twin chain driven fusee movement that sounds the hours on a bell. The dial is signed by the maker, Mathews of Bristol. A Jacob Mathews worked in Bristol in 1842.
