Large Brass and Silver Plate Corinthian Carriage Clock

A substantial French carriage clock, dating to around 1900. It has a Corinthian style case, with a Greek key handle comprising of a silver plated twisted section that is matched in the side columns. The reeded bands are also silver plated. It has an enamel dial with Roman numerals and five minute markers and moon hands. The top has a repeat button to sound the last hour (used to indicate the time in the dark). It has a 8 day movement with a lever platform that sounds the hours and halves on a gong.The movement is numbered 229.
