French Oval Strike, Repeat and Alarm Carriage Clock

A substantial French carriage clock dating to the mid 19th Century. It has a wavy shaped handle and a heavy caste brass casing with a thick bevel edge glass top window. The top has a repeater button to sound the last hour (this was used to tell the time in the dark). The white enamel dial has Roman numerals with five minute numerals and a subsidiary arm dial. The 8 day movement that strikes the hours and halves on a gong and has a lever platform.
