Vitascope Rocking Ship Clock

A classic post war mantel clock with an automaton rocking ship. The stylised cream Bakelite case is in a shape of a contemporary television, having a visible panel showing a rocking ship in full sail with a rising and setting light in the background. Made by Vitascope Industries ltd. of the Isle of man.
Vitascope clocks were made invented in the Isle of Man in 1941 by J. S Thatcher, improved by Joseph Summerskill between 1944 and 1948, and manufactured from the late 1940s by Vitascope Industries Limited, based in the Isle of Man.
