Mid 19th Century Polished Slate Mantel Clock

REF: 252206

A good example of a high quality polished Belgium slate bell striking mantel clock with a visible Brocot escapement. The rectangular case has grey variegated marble sides and an engraved molding front. It has a thick bevel edge glass in a brass bezel and a two piece enamel dial that exposes the working visible Brocot escapement. The 8 day movement strikes the hours and halves on a bell and was made by Japy Frere and has their 1853 medal stamp.
