Georgian Mahogany Balloon Clock

An impressive English balloon clock dating to around 1790. The mahogany case has a brass pineapple finial, brass carrying handles and a pierced brass front grill standing on substantial ogee bracket feet. The stepped brass bezel has a convex glass. It has an enamel dial that is signed by the maker, LeRoux of Charing Cross, who is listed as working 1781-1808 and is described as an eminent maker. The shaped plate twin fusee movement has an anchor escapement and sounds the hours on a bell.
