An impressive, high quality mahogany longcase clock dating to the late 18th Century. It has a swan neck scroll pediment, with blind fretwork panels, an ogee shaped gazed door and fluted columns with brass capitals, The trunk has a serpentine figured top door, boxwood stringing and full matching reeded columns with a scroll base. The engraved silvered dial has a moon roller within the arch indicating the current phase of the moon over a 29.5 day cycle and rare sweep centre seconds and date hands. The 8 day movement has brass cased weights, another sign of quality. It is signed by the maker Mann of Coventry, who are listed as makers from 1787.
