French Tortoiseshell and Brass inlay Mantel Clock

A French mantel clock, made in The Louis VXI style for the British market dating to around 1860. It has a waisted case with applied brass decoration and brass and tortoiseshell inlaid panels. The white enamel dial has fancy pierced brass hands and a beaded bezel and a bevel edge glass. The clock has a centre window showing the starburst pendulum which drives the 8 day movement that strikes the hours and halves on a bell. It was originally retailed by Charles Shapland.
