Solid Oak Stick Barometer

A good, heavy, solid oak Victorian stick barometer. It has an arch top case, with a removable carved pediment and a thick bevel edge glass. The trunk has a convex tube and cistern cover. It has an engraved dial with a thermometer and rise and fall indicator and is signed by the makers, Troughton & Simms of London.Troughton and Simms worked 1826-1900 at The Orrery, 136 Fleet Street. They were appointed instrument makers to The Board of Ordnance.
